Jesus Christ Vs. Melchizedek
Melchizedek (King of righteousness), King of Salem (Jerusalem), and priest of the most high God, who met Abram in the valley of Shaveh, which isthe king’s valley, bought out bread and win, blessed him, and received tithes from him. In Psalm 110:4 the Messiah is described as a priest forever after the order of Melchizedek. The order of Melchizedek is explained to mean "manner" = likeness in official dignity = a king and priest. The relationship between Christ and Melchizedek:(1) Each was a priest, not of the Levitical tribe(2) superior to Abraham(3) whose beginning and end are unknown - Melchizedek’s appearance and disappearance was all so suddenly(4) who is not only a priest but also a king of righteousness and peace.Hebrews 7:1-3 (King James Version)1For this Melchisedec, king of Salem, priest of the most high God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him; 2To whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all; first being by interpretation King of righteousness, and after that also King of Salem, which is, King of peace; 3Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually. Hebrews 5:5-6 (King James Version)5So also Christ glorified not himself to be made an high priest; but he that said unto him, Thou art my Son, to day have I begotten thee. 6As he saith also in another place, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec. The Bible: James Moffatt Translation best renders "after the order of Melchizedec" as "with the rank of Melchizedec."
